EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM Classes in the early childhood program are grouped into age specific levels for 2-7 year olds and last either 45 or 60 minutes. Class structure for all these levels is essentially the same with the content based on appropriate skills for each specific age.
MOMMY AND ME If your child has not reached the age of three by September 1, we recommend you spend some time in a Mommy and Me class. These classes are set up to develop social, motor and cognitive skills. This class runs for 45 minutes for 6 weeks for just $55. (No registration fee!) It's a great way to introduce your child to movement while still providing the security they need at this young age. You may even discover the dancer in YOU!!!!!!!! FALL 2011 SESSION 1: SATURDAYS SEPT 17-OCT 22 SESSION 2: SATURDAYS NOV 5-DEC 17 (no classes Nov 26)
TINY TOTS This is the first and second level for the preschool child. It is play-dancing at its best. 45 minutes of fun activities to stimulate muscles, minds and creativity. Includes rhythm, coordination, ballet terminology, problem solving all geared to the 3 & 4 year old child.
PRE-DANCE There is so much that can help develop these young dancers both mentally and pysically for thier near and long term futures. Simple co-ordination and problem solving is stressed thru out these 3 years and puts these students at an advantage, whether they continue thier dance education or not.
C5 is for the kindergarten child and combines the discipline of Ballet and the fun ofJazz. C6 - continues the with basics of ballet and adds tap. Its noisy but its fun. C7 - can be considered a true dance class as it involves the 3 disciplines of Ballet, Tap and Jazz in a high energy, "never stop moving" venue.
THE FOLLOWING DANCE CLASSES ARE FOR ADULTS AS WELL AS CHILDREN STUDENTS ARE SEPARATED BY AGE AS WELL AS ABILITY ADULTS HAVE SEPARATE CLASSES!
CLASSICAL BALLET training begins in the 3rd grade. Prior to that time the body's development has not achieved sufficient muscle/nerve maturity to handle the discipline required by Ballet. It is a disciplined dance form and truly the backbone of dance training. We encourage our students to continue with thier ballet training even though it may not be thier "favorite" form of dance. It truly makes better dancers out of all students.
POINTE is available for all ballet students over the age of 12 who are taking at least 2 technique classes per week and exhibit the strength required to go "on thier toes".
JAZZ - is a highly technical and stylized form of dance done to more contemporary music. Jazz incorporates all the social dances of the ages and expands them into a performance mode. Best known as the "Dancing of Broadway", it is truly an American invention and never ceases to grow and change.
TAP- is a world of its own. It is the dance of "Happy Feet". The shoes become an instrument to create sounds both with and against the music. As the dancer progresses the possibilities become endless. Its a great workout and loads of fun for the young and not so young!
MODERN - considered by many to be a "user friendly" form of dance. This discipline is usually done in bare feet and releases the inner dancer in you. The class is taught so that beginners and adv dancers can benefit from the same class.
HIP HOP - is the latest and hottest style of dance to hit the airwaves. We offer a JAZZ /HIP- HOP FUSION class for students in third, fourth and fifth grades and straight Hip-Hop if they are 12 and older. We also have a Class for adults only!!!!!
